How to Craft a Mindful Lifestyle: Integrating slow living with joy of creating Art

Updated: Aug 25, 2023

As a busy professional I was constantly exhausted from my demanding job. Until I discovered the joys of slow living and began dedicating time each evening to create art. I would light a scented candle, put on some calming music, and lose myself in creating mindfully. Over time, I found that these art sessions became a sanctuary of calm in my hectic life. I noticed increased creativity at work and a deeper sense of contentment. I then started sharing my artistic journey on social media and found a supportive community of like-minded individuals. This slow living approach not only transformed my life but also inspired others to find moments of peace through their passions.

Remember, slow living is a journey, not a destination. Slow living is all about embracing a mindful, intentional, and present-focused approach to life. It's about finding what works best for you and adapting the principles to your unique circumstances. By combining your love for art with the concept of slow living, you can create a more balanced and fulfilling life that's centered around the present moment and meaningful experiences. It's about prioritizing quality over quantity, taking time to savor experiences, and finding joy in the little moments.

8 ways to combine your passion for art with the principles of slow living:

1. Creating mindfully -

When you’re creating art or coloring, immerse yourself in the process. Engage in the process with full presence and mindfulness. Pay attention to the small details like different colors, textures, and sensations as you work. This allows you to disconnect from the fast-paced life and truly enjoy the act of creation.

2.Embracing imperfections -

Slow living encourages us to let go of the constant need for perfection. When you're creating art, focus on the joy of creation rather than obsessing over flawless outcomes.

3. Prioritizing your Time -

Just as you allocate time for work and other obligations, prioritize regular time for your art. Set aside a dedicated period each day or week to indulge in your creative pursuits. Treat it as an essential part of your self-care routine, just like exercise or relaxation.

4. Creating rituals -

Include some slow-paced rituals around your art practice. This could mean making a cup of tea or lighting a scented candle before you begin. These rituals signal to your mind that it's time to slow down and enjoy the process.

5. Capturing inspirations -

Keep a journal to jot down ideas, thoughts, and feelings that comes while you're creating art. This practice not only helps you stay present but also allows you to reflect on the deeper meanings and emotions associated with your work.

6. Finding balance -

While it's important to slow down, it doesn't mean completely detaching yourself from responsibilities. Slow living inspires finding a balance between work, personal life, and creative hunts. Try to find a balance and integrate moments of slow living into your daily routine without sacrificing productivity.

7. Reflect on your progress -

Regularly reflect on how incorporating slow living and art into your life has affected you. Journal about the positive changes you've noticed in your mindset, energy levels, and overall well-being. This reflection can serve as a motivating reminder of why you've chosen this path.

8. Stick with it by finding inspiration in the community -

Consider sharing your slow living and art journey with others. This could be through social media, a blog, or even conversations with friends and family. Your journey might inspire others to also embrace a more mindful and creative lifestyle.
